A pair of Buckeyes rookies are now officially part of the team as both wide receiver Kyion Grayes and running back Dallan Hayden have each lost their black stripes which signifies a welcome to the team.
This marks the 6th and 7th players to lose their black stripes as part of Ohio Stateβs fall practice. They join Jyaire Brown, Chip Trayanum, CJ Hicks, Zak Herbstreit and Kaleb Brown.
Grayes, a first-year player out of Chandler (Ariz.) was a top-100 player coming out of high school in the class of 2022.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder was part of an impressive four-man wide receiver haul for the Buckeyes in the most recent signing class. Grayes has been with the team since January as an early enrollee and now is the second member of the receiver class to lose their stripe.
Hayden is a first-year running back out of Memphis (Tenn.) and has recently seen more attention turned his way with the injury to running back Evan Pryor.
The 5-foot-10, 195 pounder now will be backing up TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams as the likely third-string running back. Hayden was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and enrolled at Ohio State over the summer.
Time will tell how many more members of the Ohio State recruiting class will lose their black stripes before the start of the season with that date coming up quickly with Notre Dame coming to town on September 3rd for the season opener.
