COLUMBUS — The No. 2 Buckeyes take on the No. 5 Notre Dame fighting Irish Saturday night on ABC in a huge matchup for both football programs. Following practice on Wednesday, a number of Ohio State players spoke with reporters in their final availability prior to Saturday’s game.
Sitting down for the media were fourth-year junior linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, redshirt sophomore Luke Wypler, sophomore running back TreVeyon Henderson, redshirt sophomore running back Miyan Williams, and junior receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
To a man, each of the Buckeyes spoke about their excitement for Saturday’s game. Smith-Njigba said he’s been looking forward to this game since he was an Ohio State recruit.
Another consensus for the players is that they are tired of hitting each other and they are all looking forward to seeing a different colored jersey lining up against them.
Among the many topics discussed in the videos below are the growth that TreVeyon Henderson has made and how the game has slowed down for him. And it’s just him saying that. Luke Wypler sees it in real time in practice.
For Tommy Eichenberg, this game is a family affair as his brother Liam was a starting offensive linemen for the Irish a few years back. What kind of interaction have those two had over the last few weeks?
Jaxon Smith-Njigba made mention of the brand new turf in Ohio Stadium. If you haven’t seen the pictures yet, the greens are greener than ever before. And according to Smith-Njigba, the playing surface is exactly what a guy like him is looking for.
