Ever since his impressive summer workout in Columbus, Christian Bentancur has emerged as a priority target for the Buckeyes in the 2024 recruiting class. The Woodstock (Ill.) Marian Central Catholic star impressed the coaching staff with a camp workout back in June, earning an offer that day from tight ends coach Kevin Wilson.
Bentancur was back on campus over the weekend to take in Ohio State’s 21-10 win over Notre Dame.
Like many of the prospects in attendance, Bentancur was blown away by the build up to the game and the big names it drew on the “VIP list”.
“The game was great, and the atmosphere was even better,” Bentancur told BuckeyeHuddle.com. “It is absolutely nuts walking in the same areas as some of these celebrities being a recruit.”

Ohio State did look tight end Cade Stover’s way quite a few times on Saturday night. Stover finished with three receptions and was targeted a few additional times.
“The tight end for OSU moved a lot and played a big role in, not only the run game, but also the pass game,” he observed.
Kevin Wilson has been Bentancur’s primary recruiter for the Buckeyes and the overnight stay allowed the four-star prospect to spend plenty of time with him.
“I talked with Coach Wilson before the game and the day after and we just talked football and he was showing love too,” he added.
Bentancur had previously received a pretty in-depth look at everything the Ohio State campus had to offer. The return visit was a chance to see what playing in Ohio Stadium looks like and that test was passed with flying colors.
“The thing that most stood out was the atmosphere at The Shoe,” he said. “One of the best I’ve ever seen.”
Bentancur has an extensive fall visit schedule planned with stops at Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa State, Penn State, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.
