Las Vegas point guard John Mobley, Jr. has committed to Ohio State.
The 2024 prospect just announced his commitment on ESPN2.
Mobley (6-0 150) plays for Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, but is originally from Columbus. He was slated to play his high school ball at Reynoldsburg High School but transferred to Bishop Gorman prior to his freshman season two years ago.
Mobley is the No. 7 point guard in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 43 player overall. He announced a final six of LSU, Ohio State, Xavier, USC, Creighton, and Arizona State two weeks ago.
Regarded as one of the top shooters in the 2024 class, Mobley has displayed outstanding range and a quick release in both high school ball and AAU play. He has drawn comparisons to current Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young.
Mobley is the first member of the Buckeyes’ 2024 class. It is not expected to be a large class, but that could change with transfers or another NBA surprise similar to Malaki Branham’s last year.
Ohio State has six freshman-eligible players on this year’s squad, and currently has a four-man class slated for 2024. That 2023 class currently ranks fifth nationally, and features No. 39 player Scotty Middleton (SF), No. 44 player Taison Chatman (G), No. 50 player Devin Royal (F), and No. 168 player Austin Parks (C).
The Buckeyes’ five-man 2022 freshman class ranked eighth nationally and features four top-65 players.
