PLANTATION, Fla. — Ohio State has a plethora of intriguing options at the running back position in the 2025 recruiting class. One of the biggest names on the board comes from a familiar place in Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage star Byron Louis. Louis is continuing an amazing legacy at American Heritage which includes several NFL running backs.
“It’s a blessing to be able to compare myself with some of the greats and train with some of the greats that came out of here,” Louis said. “It’s a name and a legacy, so I know I’m doing it right if I’m next up.”
Louis made his first trip to Ohio State during the spring and was able to watch the Buckeyes practice. The four-star prospect was impressed by what he saw from the Buckeyes.
“One thing is, they’re a well-oiled machine just like us,” Louis started. “Watching their practice, it was like watching mine or living mine, just at a higher level.”
Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford has taken the lead for the Buckeyes in Louis’ recruitment, though offensive coordinator Brian Hartline is also involved. Alford and Louis have begun to form a strong bond.
“Coach Tony, he’s great,” Louis explained. “He knows how to break down the game and simplify it. If you do what you’ve got to do and know your assignments, you’re going to be able to play there.”
Here more from Louis and his thoughts on the Buckeyes, Alford, and Hartline in this one-on-one interview from our Southern Swing tour.
