COLUMBUS – It was a big day for running backs at the Ohio State camp on Thursday as many top backs took part in the action under the watchful eye of Tony Alford and the rest of the Ohio State coaches.
Humble (Texas) back Tory Blaylock is no stranger to the Ohio State campus, making his third visit for the camp and the class of 2025 star has already emerged as one of the top backs in the nation for his class.
Measuring in at just under 5-foot-11, 175-pounds, the four-star back is going to be at the top of the list for many schools, already with more than three-dozen offers, including one from Ohio State.
“Everything went great,” Blaylock said of his camp experience. “I had a nice time out here competing with some of the best athletes around me. It was a good experience to be out here, and I enjoyed myself.”
A pair of other big targets for the class of 2025 were on campus as well with in-state backs Bo Jackson and Marquise Davis going through drills. Early in the week Santa Ana (Calif.) back Jordon Davison went through camp action.
It has long been said that elite competitors don’t shy away from elite competition and Blaylock was out there with a talented group of backs.
“It was nice, if you want to go to a big college you are going to be playing with some of the best,” Blaylock said. “You have got to see where everybody is at and where you are at compared to everybody else. It is just good pushing each other and making each other better.”
The Buckeyes have already done a lot of work when it comes to selling the idea of being part of the Ohio State program and so much of recruiting is more than just about what is going to be on the field.
Of course, the Buckeyes will see several backs going through their final seasons in the program with the 2023 season, but the room could look so much different when a class of 2025 player gets to his college program.
It has been important to hear more about what a school can offer outside of just football, something that the rising junior back already has on his mind as he is still very early in his decision-making process.
“(The Buckeyes) have a good standard and something good for you to do outside of football. Like after football, they’ll set you up for a good life,” Blaylock said.
Find out more from Blaylock as we caught up with him after the camp and always keep it locked in here to BuckeyeHuddle for all the latest happenings in the world of Ohio State football recruiting.
