Aaron Scott Is a Buckeye – Top Cornerback Chooses Ohio State Over Michigan

Buckeye fans’ long national nightmare of worrying about which school Springfield, Ohio cornerback Aaron Scott would commit to is now over as the state’s No. 2 prospect has committed to Ohio State over Michigan and Oregon.

Scott (6-0 170) announced his commitment live at a gathering with friends and family.

Few recruits have kept people guessing as well as Scott has this summer, as both OSU and UM were cautiously optimistic that they would land the nation’s No. 5 cornerback. Neither were overly confident in the outcome, however.

In the end, the Buckeyes won out for the services of the First-Team All-State defensive back. The win over Michigan was a huge one for Ohio State because not only do they land one of the top players in the 2024 recruiting class, but they also keep him out of the Maize and Blue.

Scott is the 19th commitment in the 2024 class for Ohio State, and the third cornerback. He joins four-star corners Bryce West and Miles Lockhart in the class. Scott and West project on the outside, while Lockhart is being slated for the nickel position.

Cornerback is an important position to replenish this year because the Ohio State defense is going to be losing two or three corners over the next two years, and they will soon be reliant upon the three players from this class and the two — Jermaine Mathews, Jr. and Calvin Simpson-Hunt — from last year’s class.

Scott is now the seventh defensive player in the Buckeyes’ class.

The loss for Michigan is significant because while they currently have 26 commitments in their 2024 class, they do not yet have a cornerback. Both schools put an awful lot of eggs in their Aaron Scott baskets, and the Wolverines will now have to scramble because of it.
