Freshman Lineman Austin Siereveld Loses Black Stripe

With the fall semester now in session at Ohio State, the Buckeyes have moved from morning practices to late afternoon sessions. Following Wednesday’s practice, freshman offensive lineman Austin Siereveld had his black stripe removed.

Black stripes are placed down the middle of every newcomer’s helmet, and once they prove their mettle in practice, they can have their stripes removed and be welcomed in as official Buckeyes.

Siereveld attended Lakota East High School in Liberty Township, Ohio, where he was a First-Team All-State selection as a senior. He was a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.

Siereveld enrolled back in January and went through winter conditioning and spring football. He has worked with the twos at guard at times during fall practice.

Siereveld is one of four true freshmen on the offensive line for the Buckeyes. All four enrolled early. Only Connecticut lineman Miles Walker still has his black stripe.

There are now just nine remaining members of Ohio State’s 2023 signing class waiting to have their black stripes removed.
