COLUMBUS — Ohio State starting free safety Josh Proctor is questionable for today’s game against Youngstown State.
Proctor was listed on Saturday’s OSU availability report, indicating some type of relatively minor injury.
Proctor had an immediate impact in last week’s season opener against Indiana with his physicality. He finished that game with four tackles, one tackle for loss, and a pass breakup.
Proctor played the first half of last week’s game, then gave way to true freshman Malik Hartford. If Proctor can’t go today, Hartford could get his first start as a Buckeye.
If a player isn’t 100% going into today, this is the kind of game where the Buckeyes can afford to let that player rest and recover. Ohio State comes into today as a 41.5-point favorite over the Penguins.
Proctor is the only player listed as questionable. There are five players listed as out for today’s game, and all five also missed the game against Indiana. Those five players are redshirt freshman receiver Kyion Grayes, walk-on tight end Zak Herbstreit, freshman defensive tackle Will Smith, Jr., walk-on receiver Reis Stocksdale, and senior safety Kourt Williams.
Freshman safety Jayden Bonsu, walk-on running back TC Caffey, and walk-on receiver Joop Mitchell were unavailable last week but appear to be available this week.
