The Big Ten Conference has announced that Ohio State’s next road trip will have a 12pm kickoff when the Buckeyes travel to Purdue on October 14th to take on the Boilermakers.
That is viewed as good news for some fans and not-so-good news for others. The other part of the equation will draw more ire as this game will be a streaming exclusive on Peacock.
This will be Ohio State’s first-ever game on a streaming only channel, part of the NBC family as the Big Ten is in year one with its new deal with FOX, CBS and NBC as broadcast partners.
Fans that want to watch the game live will be instructed to sign-up for Peacock. There are multiple promotional codes available on the internet including the code: TODAY for a discounted rate.
The trip to Purdue will be Ohio State’s third trip to the state of Indiana so far in the 2023 football season with a week one trip to Indiana and a week four trip to Notre Dame.
Ohio State leads the overall series over Purdue 41-15-2 (sorry NCAA, we do not vacate games the way that you do), but West Lafayette (Ind.) has been a challenge for the Buckeyes with Ohio State dropping its last game at Ross-Ade Stadium (2018) and the Buckeyes are 2-4 at Purdue’s home stadium in their last six visits.
The two teams have not played since the 2021 season when Ohio State hosted Purdue in a 59-31 win for the Buckeyes. C.J. Stroud would throw for five touchdowns while Purdue’s Aidan O’Connell would throw for four. Both quarterbacks were NFL starters on Sunday with Stroud leading his Texans to a win while O’Connell and his Raiders would come up short.
It is highly unlikely that Ohio State will have any other games on Peacock this season and it is unknown if there is a regulation in place for every team to appear once on the streaming partner, akin to the way that all Big Ten teams must appear twice on Big Ten Network (one conference game and one non-conference game).
