Ohio State still has a few positions to address before the 2024 recruiting cycle comes to a close. The main one, is defensive line with the Buckeyes still trying to pry a couple of prospects away from their verbal commitments elsewhere.
On Tuesday evening, one of those targets, Bay City (TX) defensive tackle Carlon Jones officially opened up his recruiting process by decommitting from Nebraska.
Jones is expected to make an official visit to Ohio State the weekend of December 8th so the news of his decommitment doesn’t come as a huge surprise, but it does further the idea that the Buckeyes have a real chance of landing the 6-foot-2, 285-pound prospect.
Since becoming a major target for the Buckeyes several weeks ago, Jones has been extremely complimentary of the Ohio State program and eager to visit.
“They are a top notch team,” Jones recently told Buckeye Huddle. “I love everything about them. They can get you to the league for sure.”
Jones turned in a monster senior season for Bay City, recording 95 tackles, 30 TFL’s, and 17 sacks.
