Three Buckeye Defenders Named First-Team All-Big Ten, Nine Others Honored

The Big Ten has released its All-Conference teams for the defensive side of the ball and Ohio State defensive end JT Tuimoloau, linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, and cornerback Denzel Burke have all earned First-Team honors.

Eichenberg was also named the Butkus-Fitzgerald Big Ten Linebacker of the Year.

Eichenberg leads the Buckeyes with 82 tackles this season as a fifth-year graduate senior. This was his second-consecutive First-Team selection.

Tuimoloau is also a two-time First-Team selection, earning the honors last year as a sophomore. This season for the Buckeyes he has posted 34 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, and 4.0 sacks.

Burke has been one of the best cornerbacks in the nation all year long. He has posted 19 tackles, one interception, two tackles for loss, and nine passes broken up this season as a junior.

The Buckeyes’ Second-Team honorees on defense are defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, defensive end Jack Sawyer, and kicker Jayden Fielding.

Williams, a junior, leads the Buckeyes with 10 tackles for loss and is third with 3.0 sacks. Williams is also fourth on the team in tackles with 49. He has been an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honoree in each of his first two seasons prior to this year.

Sawyer, also a junior, is second on the team with 7.0 tackles for loss and third with 3.5 sacks. His 44 tackles are 20 more than he had last season as an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection.

Fielding is 15-of-18 on field goals this season. His 83.3% accuracy is good for fourth in the conference.

Ohio State’s Third-Team honorees are linebacker Steele Chambers, safety Josh Proctor, and defensive tackle Mike Hall. Defensive tackle Ty Hamilton, safeties Lathan Ransom and Sonny Styles, and cornerback Davison Igbinosun were all Honorable Mention selections.

Part-time defensive starting nickel back Jordan Hancock wasn’t on any of the All-Big Ten teams, which is unfortunate because he has been one of OSU’s best defenders down the stretch.
