Defensive line will once again be a major focus on the recruiting trail in the 2025 cycle. The Buckeyes recently put out an offer to Newberry (Fla.) standout Jarquez Carter.
“I was really excited when (Ryan Day) said I had an offer from Ohio State,” Carter told BuckeyeHuddle.com recently.
The 6-foot-2, 285-pound prospect picked up that offer on a recent visit to Columbus for Ohio State’s win over Minnesota.
“The visit was great, and the rally before the game was amazing,” he recalled. “I definitely loved the speech coach Ryan Day gave to the players at the end of the game.”
Carter had a chance to meet with Day to receive his offer in person and Day made it clear that the Buckeyes will be keeping a close eye on him moving forward.
“He said he really appreciated me coming all the way from Florida to watch them play,” Carter said. “And he told me to come up during the spring so we can connect more.”
Ohio State has always been a school of interest for Carter who was able to check off an important piece of his recruiting process by making the visit.
“I wanted to meet coach Johnson in person and I wanted to experience a football game there,” he continued. “Coach Johnson is a great person and a great coach and he was telling me if I want to be great I have to set high goals for myself.”
As a junior, Carter registered nine sacks and an incredible 37 tackles-for-loss.
