Ohio State hosted just two official visitors from the high school ranks over the weekend, including Esko (MN) star Koi Perich. The four-star safety has been one of hottest names in the class of 2024 over the past couple of months, picking up offers from the Buckeyes, Florida State, USC, and others.
Perich has also ascended into the Top 100 prospects in the nation on some of the rankings services. Ohio State has been as aggressive as any program in trying to flip Perich from in-state Minnesota.
Because of the late developing recruitment here, Ohio State got its one big chance to impress Perich with just over a week until the Early Signing Period opens up. The Buckeyes did just that, as the big-time safety walked away impressed with his time in Columbus.
“Just the coaches, man everyone on the staff,” Perich told BuckeyeHuddle.com. “I had a good feeling with them and you can just tell they are all on the same page.”
Ohio State has begun its bowl prep for its late-December matchup with Missouri in the Cotton Bowl which gave Perich a look at how things operate around the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
“I was able to catch the end of practice live, and being able to see some coaches coach was pretty cool,” he added.
Perich came into the visit without any real expectations, but the winning culture in Columbus has his attention as he weighs a tough decision over the coming days.
“I just came in with an open mind man,” he continued. “I mean you can’t go wrong there, so much winning goes on.”
In addition to battling Minnesota, Ohio State will also have to fend off Florida State in this recruitment. Perich confirmed that he still plans to make his official visit to Tallahassee this upcoming weekened.
