Ohio State receiver Bryson Rodgers is entering the transfer portal. The news was first reported by On3.com.
Rodgers played in two games this season as a freshman for the Buckeyes, but he did not record a statistic.
Rodgers was one of four true freshman receivers in Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class. He was the No. 49 receiver in the class and the No. 357 player in the nation overall. Rodgers attended Wiregrass Ranch High School in Zephyrhills, Florida.
The Buckeyes have now had 17 players enter — or plan to enter — the transfer portal since the regular season ended. Rodgers is the second receiver to move on, joining senior starter Julian Fleming.
Rodgers becomes the first member of OSU’s 2023 recruiting class to transfer out. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.
The departure for Rodgers could signal news that junior starting receiver Emeka Egbuka is returning for his senior season. Egbuka dealt with injuries this season, catching 41 passes for 515 yards and four touchdowns. It was not the season he was expecting.
Fellow starter Marvin Harrison, Jr. opted out of this weekend’s Cotton Bowl and will eventually announce that he is entering the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Buckeyes have signed a pair of receivers so far in the 2024 recruiting class. Florida prospect Jeremiah Smith is a 5-star receiver who is ranked as the top player in the class by both Rivals and 247Sports.
Indiana receiver Mylan Graham is also a 5-star prospect, ranked the No. 7 receiver in the nation per the 247Sports Composite.
