Buckeye Defense End Jack Sawyer Announces Return For Senior Season

Ohio State junior defensive end Jack Sawyer has announced that he is returning for his senior season with the Buckeyes.

Sawyer produced 48 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks during the 2023 season. He had 3.5 tackles for loss and a sack against Minnesota this season. Sawyer had a sack in each of the Buckeyes’ last two regular season games.

The biggest game of the year for Sawyer came in Ohio State’s final contest of the season, as he had 3.0 sacks against Missouri in the 14-3 Cotton Bowl loss.

Sawyer notched 7.5 tackles for loss in his final three games.

Sawyer’s return is the second bit of good news the Buckeyes received on Friday. Starting safety Lathan Ransom also announced his return.

Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams already announced his return for his senior season earlier in the week.

Sawyer has hinted to the fact that several of his teammates with NFL decisions could be returning next year. The desire for a win against Michigan, a Big Ten title, and a shot at a national championship are each a driving force in bringing so many Buckeye juniors back.
