Ohio State starting strong safety Lathan Ransom announced on Friday that he will be returning to OSU for his fifth-and-final season next year.
Ransom was a 2020 signee for Ohio State but is utilizing his COVID year to return for the 2024 season.
As a senior this past year for the Buckeyes, Ransom finished with 34 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and an interception. He was injured and lost for the season against Wisconsin on October 28.
Ransom was one of the key pieces to an Ohio State defense that finished third nationally in total defense and first nationally in pass defense.
Ransom manned OSU’s “Bandit” safety spot, handling the boundary side of the field. His return will continue to help boost a defense that is seeing some key figures announce their return, which defensive tackle Tyleik Williams has already done. More are expected to follow in the coming days.
Ransom has 20 career starts for the Buckeyes, stretching back to the 2021 season. He finished with 74 tackles in 2022, and 38 in 2021. For his career, he has 151 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and two interceptions.
