Ohio State’s class of 2024 clean up efforts during the late recruiting window have revolved solely around four-star defensive lineman Dominic Kirks. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound prospect out of Painesville (Ohio) Riverside had been committed to Washington since the summer.
Kirks didn’t sign during the early signing period as heightened interest from Ohio State and USC made him take a second look at things. On Friday, news broke that Huskies’ head coach Kalen Deboer was taking the opening at Alabama, following in Nick Saban’s massive footsteps.
Kirks then promptly decommitted on Friday night upon processing the Deboer news. The timing couldn’t be better for Ohio State as the Buckeyes will be hosting the four-star prospect for an official visit this weekend.
It is yet to be determined what Deboer’s departure for Alabama could mean in terms of the Crimson Tide getting involved with Kirks, but Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson has turned up the heat quite a bit over the past two months and the Buckeyes could now be in prime position to add Kirks to the class.
BuckeyeHuddle.com will have more on Kirks and his recruitment as information becomes available.
