The Ohio State coaching staff has been on the road the last couple of weeks and a lot of offers are coming forward in the 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes as a result of these high school visits. On Monday, the Buckeyes offered one of the fastest rising prospects in the state of Georgia, Gainesville High linebacker/edge Xavier Griffin.
“It was very exciting,” Griffin told BuckeyeHuddle.com. “(Ohio State is) one of the best schools in the nation and one of the schools I could see myself going to.”
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound prospect has a devastating first step coming off the edge and has pulled in early offers from the likes of Florida State, Georgia, and Tennessee as well as academic powers like Duke and Vanderbilt.
Ohio State assistant James Laurinaitis extended the offer and the two had a chance to connect.
“Me and him talked and he is a good coach,” Griffin explained. “He has a good past in the league and at Ohio State, definitely a cool guy.”
While Griffin doesn’t know a lot of the micro details of the Ohio State program, it’s a school that he has developed an interest in over the years watching the Buckeyes play in big games.
“I know they have produced a lot of talent to the NFL and they are always in the mix of the CFP,” he said.
Griffin added that he plans to schedule a visit to Ohio State during the spring. He’ll visit UGA this coming weekend.
