The month of January saw Ohio State mostly focus on the transfer portal but the Buckeye did make one big signing today in four-star Ohio defensive lineman Dominic Kirks.
Kirks took a long and winding road to Columbus. He initially committed Washington over the summer but as Ohio State picked up its level of interest in the fall, Kirks decided not to sign early with the Huskies in December.
Ohio State and USC were still under consideration at that point and when Washington head coach Kalen Deboer left to take the Alabama job, it became a two-team race.
The Buckeyes were able to lock up Kirks’ commitment shortly after his official visit and Kirks never made it out to USC. Kirks has now signed with the Buckeyes and gives them an excellent prospect at an area of serious need.
We break down Kirks’ signing below on a special edition of the Skull Session Recruiting Podcast.
