Ohio State has been aggressively recruiting Charlotte (NC) Providence Day star David Sanders Jr. for more than a year and the Buckeyes have made the cut for the five-star prospect and nation’s top offensive tackle.
Sanders trimmed his list to six on Saturday with the Buckeyes joining Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee on the list.
The contenders for Sanders have fluctuated a little bit over the past year. Florida and Michigan, where his former quarterback Jadyn Davis signed this past cycle, have fallen out of the race while programs like South Carolina and Tennessee have made upward moves in recent months.
Still, the most serious competition here looks to be coming from Clemson and Georgia who have made strong impressions on the five-star prospect.
On Ohio State’s end, both offensive line coach Justin Frye and head coach Ryan Day have been leading the charge for the Buckeyes who believe Sanders is cut from the same mold, on and off the field, as former Ohio State first round pick Paris Johnson.
The Buckeyes are hoping to get a spring unofficial visit from Sanders in the next month or so.
