Ohio State may not be quite finished in the 2024 recruiting class after all. The Buckeyes are hosting 20-year old Australian punter Nick McLarty this week on a multi-day unofficial visit.
McLarty is a giant by punter standards, standing 6-foot-7 and 255-pounds and he took in Ohio State’s opening spring practice on Tuesday. He’ll be back on campus for Thursday’s practice as well.
Ohio State does not currently have a scholarship punter on the roster with Wayne State transfer Hadi Jawad and Australian import Joe McGuire the only two punters on the roster. McGuire is considered the favorite to land the job as things stand today.
McLarty will make his college decision in the coming months and enroll this summer at his school of choice.
Not much is known about McLarty at this point. He doesn’t have a profile on the national recruiting sites but his Twitter account reports an offer from Utah that he received back in October.
Below is some video of McLarty working on a number of different types of punts.
BuckeyeHuddle.com will have more information on McLarty as it is made available.
