Ohio State’s spring game will be found on a familiar yet different network this year.
FOX Sports announced Monday that it will televise Ohio State’s spring game April 13 beginning at noon. It marks a change from the Big Ten Network’s coverage of the intrasquad scrimmage in recent years.
“I cannot wait for that,” FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt stated in a release. “It’s going to be a big April with the NFL Draft, the UFL starting, and these marquee programs [having] their spring games on big FOX.”
It will also be “the first-ever nationally televised spring game” according to FOX College Football.
The spring game will serve as one of the first looks into Ohio State’s ongoing position battles.
Among them this season is at quarterback where Devin Brown and Kansas State transfer Will Howard will compete and put on display their work from 15 spring practices out on the playing field at Ohio Stadium.
New offensive coordinator Chip Kelly will also make some of his first impressions on Buckeye Nation when the team takes the field. Kelly has already described his level of excitement that the Ohio State offense provides him.
The Buckeyes won’t be alone when their spring game airs on FOX in April.
Michigan will also have its spring game televised on FOX one week after Ohio State on April 20 at noon, according to a release.
Head coach Ryan Day and Ohio State expect to have a large crowd on hand in Columbus for the spring game. Former quarterback and current Houston Texans gunslinger C.J. Stroud said he looks forward to “pack the house out” when the Buckeyes take the field at the ‘Shoe in less than three weeks.
