One day after wide receiver teammate De’zie Jones committed to Ohio State, Depaul Catholic High School (Wayne, NJ) defensive back DeShawn Stewart, Jr. did the same.
Stewart (6-2 185) announced his commitment via Twitter.
Stewart plays cornerback for Depaul Catholic but with his size, he could project to safety as well. In fact, he is rated as a safety by 247Sports.
Stewart is ranked the No. 24 safety in the nation per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 284 player overall. He is ranked the No. 8 player in New Jersey, which is two spots ahead of his teammate Jones.
The Buckeyes now have 11 commitments in their 2025 recruiting class. Four of them are defensive backs. Stewart joins cornerbacks Devin Sanchez, Na’eem Offord, and Blake Woodby. All three of those players are Top 100. Sanchez and Offord are both five-star prospects, and they are ranked as the top two corners in the nation.
Stewart committed to the Buckeyes over offers from Penn State, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, and a number of others.
