Ohio State freshman forward Scotty Middleton has announced his intention to enter the transfer portal while also keeping his NBA draft door open.
“It has been an honor to suit up for Ohio State for this past season,” he wrote on social media. “I will cherish the memories and relationships I’ve built forever. I have decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal and go through the NBA draft process while maintaining my college eliginility (sic).”
Middleton played in 30 games as a true freshman this past season for the Buckeyes, starting once. He averaged 4.4 points per game, with a season-high of 13 points, which was scored in the season opener.
Middleton was a Top 50 recruit for the Buckeyes in the 2023 recruiting class. He was ranked the No. 10 small forward in the nation.
Middleton had been away from the team the past couple of weeks for a family issue.
The Buckeyes have now lost two players to the transfer portal as second-year guard Bowen Hardman announced his departure last week. With new head coach Jake Diebler in charge, this could be a tumultuous offseason at Ohio State with many decisions having to be made.
