Ohio State redshirt sophomore running back Dallan Hayden is expected to enter the transfer portal following spring ball per a report from Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.
Hayden redshirted last year as a sophomore, playing in four games and rushing for 110 yards on 19 carries. This came after an impressive true freshman season in 2022 where he stepped in several times, rushing for 553 yards on 111 carries, and scoring five times.
The brightest spot of Hayden’s career came in 2022 when he carried the ball over 20 times in the second half in a very close win at Maryland. He finished with 146 yards rushing on 27 carries, scoring three touchdowns.
Hayden was expected to have a larger role this season as a redshirt sophomore. Those plans were interrupted, however, thanks to the transfer of two-time All-SEC running back Quinshon Judkins and the return of All-Big Ten running back TreVeyon Henderson.
Hayden is originally from Memphis, Tennessee, and there is speculation that he could head back to that area for his next stop.
The Buckeyes currently have five scholarship running backs in spring camp right now, with true freshmen James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon rounding out a talented group.
Peoples and Williams-Dixon have been earning solid reports so far as camp wraps up this weekend with the annual Ohio State spring game.
