JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench has long been a priority target for Ohio State in the 2025 recruiting class. Even after an early commitment to Alabama, the Buckeyes never relented in their pursuit of the Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin star.
Ffrench made some waves this week with comments referencing a top three that did not include Ohio State. We caught up with him on our Southern Swing recruiting tour to get the latest on where things are at between the Buckeyes and one of the top wide receiver prospects in the nation.
The big-time pass-catcher first cleared the air on any rumors about his relationship with Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline.
“Real good, real strong,” Ffrench stated. “I know a lot of guys are still wondering but me and coach Hartline are still buddies, man. He’s still my guy.”
Ffrench will make several official visits in June, but does not have one scheduled for Ohio State. He also dove into that topic.
“No doubt about that,” he stated, when asked if he would make an official visit to Ohio State. “Gameday weekend in the fall. I didn’t cut them out, I just wanted that to be my last pitch, the last thing I see, that’s pretty much all.”
The Buckeyes also had Ffrench on campus for spring practice recently and the visit went well.
“Everything went smooth,” Ffrench recalled. “I really liked it, really like the people there. I was up there with my 7on7 team just hanging out, getting a feel for the guys.”
If there are ever any questions about what Ohio State is really like, Ffrench has some excellent resources in fellow South Florida Express alumni Brandon Inniss, Carnell State, and Jeremiah Smith in that Buckeye receivers room.
“They just have a similar feel, being from Florida, where I’m from,” Ffrench said. “So they know the experience and everything and they know the stuff that I need to take in and the stuff that I need to be aware of.”
