Huber Heights Wayne High School wide receiver Jamier Brown became the first 2027 prospect in the state of Ohio to earn an Ohio State offer, as the freshman speedster put on a show at OSU’s first one-day prospect camp on Wednesday.
He buried the lede when he was asked after the camp how he felt he did on the day.
“I did good. I feel like I did good,” he said. “I’ve been developing, especially from the Notre Dame camp last week. I feel like I had better route running and been more patient in my routes. So I feel like I had a great day, especially getting the offer from O-State.”
Brown can be seen in his freshman football highlights below making big play after big play, but he is also a phenomenal track talent, posting a 10.51 100-meter time as a freshman.
In March, Brown (6-0 163) won a state title and set a new national record in the 60-meter dash for freshman with a time of 6.75 seconds.
Brown was only focused on the football field on Wednesday, however, and he had his mind set on earning an offer from the Buckeyes.
“It’s all I was thinking about since I woke up,” he said.
Brown now holds offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Pitt, and about 10 others. His first offer came from Central Michigan during his freshman season. Tennessee, Pitt, Ohio State, and Notre Dame are standing out for him right now.
Already an accomplished athlete after just one year in high school, Brown was asked if it was intimidating at all being one of the younger campers performing in front of the coaches and against older players.
“I don’t get intimidated,” he said. “I just come and do my job, and I get great things out of doing my job.”
The offer from Ohio State is a big deal for any player just finishing up his freshman year in high school, but it’s an even bigger deal for an Ohio kid who has grown up as a Buckeye fan.
“It feels good, especially being close, it’s not that far. I can come up here and visit whenever they want me to,” he said. “I’ve liked Ohio State since I was little.”
Throughout the camp and in the moments afterward, Brown received feedback from Ohio State receivers coach Brian Hartline. It was Hartline who was putting Brown through his paces all afternoon long.
What did Hartline tell him?
“Just saying that I did good, but I’ve just got a lot more to work on,” he said. “Just to help me get better.”
Up next for Jamier Brown? More of the same.
“Just go work,” he said. “Get better at my route running. Just develop.”
