Ohio State has landed a verbal commitment from four-star running back Isaiah West. West is the second commitment for the Buckeyes this weekend, joining Top 100 wide receiver Quincy Porter’s commitment on Friday.
West (5-11 208) attends St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which is the same school that former Buckeyes Marvin Harrison, Jr. and Kyle McCord attended as well.
A powerful tailback with speed, West is a very balanced runner with good vision and the ability to deftly maneuver through traffic.
Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn offered West a little over a month ago. He decommitted from Kentucky the same day. West took his official visit to Ohio State this weekend.
Ranked the No. 14 running back in the 2025 class per 247Sports, West also held offers from Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Boston College, and others.
Isaiah West is now the second running back committed in Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class. He joins Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph’s Bo Jackson, who is ranked the No. 3 running back in the nation.
Locklyn would still like to add a third running back to the class if possible. Ohio State head coach Ryan Day generally wants five scholarship running backs on the roster. They have just four this year and could be losing both TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins to the NFL after this season.
California prospect Jordon Davison is perhaps OSU’s top remaining target at the position. He is scheduled to take his official visit to Ohio State the weekend of June 21.
West is now the 15th commitment in the Buckeyes’ 2025 recruiting class. The class features seven Top 100 prospects so far, including five-star Bellefontaine, Ohio quarterback Tavien St. Clair, who is the No. 2 player overall in the class.
St. Clair has been a frequent visitor to campus as he continues to help put together a recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation.
