Ohio State has opened at No. 2 in the initial AP Poll, which is the same spot they opened one week ago in the initial edition of the Coaches Poll. Georgia is No. 1, just as they were in the Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs received 46 first-place votes.
Ohio State received 15 first-place votes.
Oregon opens at No. 3, Penn State is at No. 8, and Michigan is ranked No. 9. USC and Iowa are ranked Nos. 23 and 25, respectively.
The Buckeyes opened at No. 3 in last year’s preseason AP Poll and finished No. 10.
