Guthrie Excited About Ohio State Offer but the ‘Work Isn’t Done’

One of Ohio’s top junior prospects landed his offer from the Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon in Miami Trace star offensive tackle Adam Guthrie. The 6-foot-7, 285-pound prospect is one of a handful of outstanding junior offensive linemen in Ohio and now adds his name to the list with an offer from Ohio State. Guthrie received the news while visiting on Saturday for the Iowa game.

“We were on the field (before the game),” Guthrie recalled. “I was happy to finally get it.”

Guthrie had reason to believe the offer from Ohio State was coming after a strong start to his junior season.

“They said after camp (back in June) that they wanted to see five games of junior year film,” Guthrie explained. “Once I got it out, they texted me and said they had seen all they needed answered from those games. But I told them the work isn’t done.”

Guthrie has earned dozens of scholarship offers already, but landing one from the in-state Buckeyes is something he holds in high regard.

“It’s pretty cool because not everyone is able to say that they got offered by Ohio State, especially in state guys,” he said. “So I’ll be able to tell my future kids and grandkids that is something I was able to accomplish.”

Trips to Tennessee and Texas are up next for Guthrie with a trip to Georgia also in the works. The four-star prospect will also be at Penn State when the Buckeyes come to town. The Ohio State offensive line was one of the highlights in the win over Iowa on Saturday.

“The game was good,” Guthrie said. “Ohio State started off slow but in the second half they adjusted and asserted themselves.
