Class of 2027 Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne wide receiver Jamier Brown burst onto the national recruiting scene with a dominant summer camp performance back in June. The sophomore speedster has carried things over to the fall where he is having a tremendous season for the Warriors.
Brown’s talents were on full display on Friday night in a rivalry win over three-time defending state runner-up Springfield, with a pair of electric touchdown catches.
The first one was a highlight reel type of play with Brown making a catch over the middle, breaking a tackle, and then putting a world class move on another defender before racing to the end zone.
“I saw one man, and knowing me, I’m going to make that man miss and that’s what I did,” Brown recalled.
Brown brings 10.5 100-meter speed to the table, along with great ball skills, traits that allowed him to become the first class of 2027 Ohioan to earn an offer from the Buckeyes over the summer.
“It’s really exciting for me and my family,” he said. “Growing up an Ohio State fan, I always told my mom that I wanted to go to Ohio State so getting an offer from them is really exciting for me.”
So far Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline has made a good impression on Brown. The time spent working together at camp this summer gave Brown a glimpse into what kind of coach Hartline is.
“I think he’s a really great coach,” he explained. “He’s not the type of coach that is just going to let me slack. Like when I messed up, he made me start the drill over again and fix my mistake.”
So far it has been a group effort with Brown having interactions with Hartline, area recruiter Tim Walton, and head coach Ryan Day.
“I talk to Ohio State probably every other week,” he explained. “Sometimes it’s Ryan Day. I think he’s a great coach. I feel like every time I talk to him, he’s excited to speak to me. We have a great connection so far.”
On Saturday, Brown was able to take in his first ever Ohio State game and the Buckeyes left a great impression.
“I had a great experience overall,” Brown said. “From the recruiting assistants to the game itself, they always make me feel comfortable and welcomed. I was able to talk to quite a few coaches and even some players as well including Jeremiah, who I was able to take a few pics with which was cool. To see him make the one hand grab for the touchdown in person was pretty cool to see. I’m glad the Bucks got the dub and took care of business like they should.”
