COLUMBUS — Ohio State senior defensive tackle Tyleik Williams is available for this week’s game against Purdue after leaving last week’s contest against Penn State with an injury.
Williams has 21 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks on the season. Despite his optimistic availability, however, that does not mean he will actually see the field on Saturday against the Boilermakers. He is not listed as questionable, though OSU head coach Ryan Day said earlier in the week that he was day to day.
If Williams is called upon against Purdue, he shouldn’t need to play too much as the Buckeyes are favored by more than five touchdowns on Saturday. If he does not play, expect true freshman Eddrick Houston and redshirt freshman Jason Moore to get some of his snaps at three-tech defensive tackle.
If he does play, expect those same backups to be involved later in the game.
There are no players listed as questionable this week. There is a new name among the unavailable players, however. Redshirt freshman cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt is out this week. He has played in every game this season, but the only time he’s seen snaps on defense came in the second week of the season against Western Michigan.
Tight end Will Kacmarek is still out. Ryan Day said this week that he may only be a couple of weeks away from returning. Kacmarek suffered an arm injury early against Oregon.
Here is the full list of names on this week’s availability report.
