Buckeyes Offer Elite Running Back Elijah Kimble on Visit

Ohio State saw several outstanding running back prospects come through The Shoe to take in the 45-0 win over Purdue on Saturday. Buffalo (NY) Canisius star Elijah Kimble was among them. The class of 2027 prospect picked up an offer from the Buckeyes while on campus, joining the likes of Michigan, Oregon, and Penn State.

Kimble, considered by many as the early No. 1 prospect in the state of New York in his class, has been to Ohio State several times now.

“I keep coming back because I want to build a relationship with these great coaches,” Kimble told BuckeyeHuddle.com.

One coach that Kimble continues to build a good relationship with is running backs coach Carlos Locklyn. With Locklyn taking over for the departed Tony Alford back in the spring, this was Kimble’s first chance to meet the first year Buckeye assistant in person.

“My relationship with coach Locklyn is very good,” Kimble said. “My thoughts on meeting him for the first time is that he’s a great coach but an even better person.”

It’s still very early for Kimble but the Buckeyes and a couple of Big Ten rivals are schools that the 5-foot-10, 185-pound prospect is feeling comfortable with so far in his recruiting process.

“Other than Ohio State, I feel good about (relationships with) Michigan and Oregon,” he added.

Kimble’s next visit to Ohio State will likely be for a summer camp to in June to work directly with Locklyn as the two continue to form a strong relationship. The Ohio State program as a whole has made a very good early impression on the dynamic athlete.

“I definitely see OSU as a factor (in his recruitment),” he stated.
