Ohio State hosted a pair of defensive back prospects who are committed to other Power Four programs this past weekend, including Michigan State pledge Aydan West.
The 6-foot, 185-pound prospect from Gaithersburg (MD) Quince Orchard entered the weekend without an offer from the Buckeyes, but that changed on the visit.
“The visit went well,” West told BuckeyeHuddle.com. “The game was great and the atmosphere was great. The actual build up to the game was my favorite part of the visit, it felt like I was about to play.”
West was able to meet with the defensive coaches throughout the weekend and get some feedback on the Buckeye offer.
“The meetings with the coaches went great,” West recalled. “They stated they love my ball skills and that I like to come down and make tackles.”
Tim Walton has been the primary recruiter in this one for the Buckeyes and his reputation as a developer of talent is one thing that intrigues West about Ohio State.
“What stands out about Coach Walton is his coaching experience and the different types of players he has (developed) in college and the pros,” he said.
With just nine days left until the Early Signing Period opens up, time is ticking for West to make a final call. The Spartan pledge has made trips to Virginia Tech and Ohio State the past two weekends and will be back in East Lansing this coming weekend.
“All three are great choices,” he said. “I am still locked in with MSU but will definitely sit down with my family and see where it all stands.”
