The past 48 hours have been low ones for the present of BuckeyeNation but when it comes to the future, Ohio State got a shot of good news on Monday.
Class of 2027 quarterback Brady Edmunds (Huntington Beach, Calif.) picked Ohio State over a final grouping that included Texas, Penn State and Michigan.
The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder is a consensus five-star according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings and will assuredly be in the mix for top quarterbacks in the nation for his class of 2027.
Edmunds joins Jamier Brown as members of the class of 2027 for Ohio State, after Brown recently committed to Ohio State to get things rolling in the class that has two more years of high school football to play.
Despite being in California, Edmunds has ties to the state of Ohio with family in the greater-Cleveland area, so there may have already been some seeds planted in this recruitment .
In a strange twist of fate, Ohio State has its 2027 QB committed before it has its 2026 QB committed. With Tavien St. Clair set to sign in just a couple of days, we know what QB recruiting looks like in a couple of the upcoming seasons, but not 2026.
There is a debate having players of Edmunds and St. Clair’s caliber potentially scaring off 2026 contenders. Time will tell on that one as the Ohio State QB room definitely has a look about it.
Edmunds is much more of a thrower but can run the ball if needed, something that Ohio State’s offense has morphed into through the passing years. This past season, Edmunds thre for 3,222 yards on 217 of 348 passing with 36 touchdowns against nine picks. He also ran for 312 yards and nine scores, all while competing against the difficult teams of Southern California high school football.
We will have more on this breaking news as the day goes on.
