COLUMBUS — The seedings for the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff have been released and the No. 8 Buckeyes (10-2) will be hosting the No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers (10-2).
The game will be played Saturday, December 21 in Ohio Stadium with a kickoff time set for 8:00 pm. The game will air on ABC/ESPN.
Big Ten Champions Oregon (13-0) are the No. 1 seed. They have earned a bye in the first round, as well as other conference champions No. 2 Georgia (11-2), No. 3 Boise State (12-1), and No. 4 Arizona State (11-2).
The No. 5 Texas Longhorns (11-2) will host No. 12 Clemson (10-3), who earned a bid by winning the ACC. That game will be played at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 21 on TNT. The No. 6 Penn State Nittany Lions (11-2) will host SMU (11-2), who lost in the ACC Championship Game. That game will kick off at 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 21 on TNT.
The No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11-1) will battle for state supremacy by hosting No. 10 Indiana (11-1). This will be the very first game of this year’s CFP, kicking off Friday, December 20 at 8:00 pm on ABC/ESPN.
