Ohio State backup left tackle Zen Michalski is entering the transfer portal. He made the announcement via social media.
Michalski will have one year of eligibility remaining.
This was an up-and-down year for Michalski, who won the job as Ohio State’s backup left tackle in camp. He was then thrust into starting action when starting left tackle Josh Simmons went down for the season with a knee injury at Oregon.
Michalski started the next game against Nebraska but then suffered his own serious injury. Ohio State head coach Ryan Day never termed the injury season-ending but Michalski has not played since the injury. He was taking part in practice this week, however.
Michalski has been a member of the two-deep for each of the last three seasons and was a starter on special teams as well.
Originally committed to Louisville, Michalski flipped to the Buckeyes shortly after they offered him during his senior season at Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. He was a four-star prospect who also held offers from the likes of Ole Miss and Penn State.
The Buckeyes are continuing to look for a left tackle in the transfer portal. They signed Minnesota redshirt freshman right tackle Phillip Daniels this week.
Buckeye Huddle will continue to cover this story and more in the days to come.
