Ohio State landed another big transfer on Monday afternoon in former West Virginia star running back C.J. Donaldson. The 6-foot-2, 238-pound bruiser just wrapped up a junior season in Morgantown that saw him rush for 734 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Mountaineers.
Donaldson is expected to come in and complement the Buckeyes’ returning backs, most notably James Peoples who saw a good bit of action this year in Columbus as a true freshman.
Donaldson went to high school at Miami (FL) Gulliver Prep and signed with the Mountaineers as a three-star prospect in the Class of 2022. Donaldson was actually rated as a tight end prospect coming out of high school but quickly found a home at running back in Morgantown where he rushed for 526 yards and eight touchdowns as a true freshman.
In his three years at West Virginia, Donaldson rushed for 2,058 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also added 32 receptions for 190 yards and a touchdown.
He’ll have one-year of eligibility left at Ohio State.
