What I Know, What I Think, What I Wonder — 2025 Offensive Signees Edition

I know that Isaiah West has some shake to him. He has the ability to downshift a little bit in the second level to make somebody miss, then get back up to top speed very quickly. JK Dobbins was outstanding at that. West has also lined up wide as a receiver, so he’s not just one of these guys who has only ever been part of a running offense.

I think it’s going to be fascinating to watch Tavien St. Claire in the spring to see how much of a difference there is in arm strength between him and everybody else.

I wonder what the NIL offers look like for the Ohio State receivers who don’t get to play. Especially if they’re 6-foot-4 and 200-plus pounds and just had a full year of being coached by Brian Hartline.

I know that Quincy Porter is a receiving prospect to get excited about. Ryan Day talks about how bigger receivers take a little bit of time to catch up to the speed of college football and also to catch up to their own top speed. Porter is a guy who is effective after the catch. He has experience in the screen game, both catching and blocking. He’s a red-zone threat as well.

I think watching De’zie Jones run routes is like watching a point guard that nobody can keep out of the paint. You know he’s driving to the basket but there’s nothing you can do to stop him. He’s the kind of guy who has never had to develop a jumper because nobody can clamp him down.

I wonder how well a college program would do by landing the top offensive lineman in Maryland every year like OSU did with Jayvon McFadden.
