Ohio State freshman running back Sam Williams-Dixon has entered the transfer portal. He will not remain with the team as they head for Dallas and the Cotton Bowl on Wednesday.
The news was first reported by Jeremy Birmingham of Rivals.com.
Williams-Dixon has played in three games this year, rushing for 53 yards on seven attempts.
A three-star prospect out of Pickerington North High School near Columbus, Ohio, Williams-Dixon was ranked the No. 48 athlete in the 2024 recruiting class and the No. 661 player in the nation overall.
Ranked the No. 24 player in Ohio and the No. 660 player nationally by the 247Sports Composite, Williams-Dixon signed with Ohio State over offers from Michigan State, Tennessee, Rutgers, Wisconsin, West Virginia and others.
Ohio State signed two running backs in the 2024 class and three in the 2025 recruiting class. Williams-Dixon’s departure reduces that number by one.
The Buckeyes will be losing co-starter TreVeyon Henderson and are expected to be losing Quinshon Judkins, though Judkins does have one year of eligibility remaining.
The Buckeyes also went into the portal and added West Virginia running back CJ Donaldson who will be part of the team next season.
