Ohio State hosted several Ohio prospects on Sunday as the Buckeyes celebrated their National Championship victory with a gathering in Ohio Stadium in front of thousands of fans.
In-state offensive line recruiting will be key for the Buckeyes in 2026 and a handful of Ohio’s best were on campus including offered prospects Maxwell Riley, Sam Greer, and Adam Guthrie as well as potential targets like Mason Wilhelm out of Lakewood St. Edward and Ben Congdon from Tuscarawas Valley.
For Riley, his recruitment has come down to Ohio State and Clemson and getting the four-star talent back on campus was a good thing for the Buckeyes.
“I had a great time,” Riley told BuckeyeHuddle.com. “I thought the environment was awesome. Really enjoyed getting to see Coach Frye and Coach Day.”
There is no set timetable for a decision from Riley but with being down to two schools it seems reasonable to think a commitment could be coming sooner rather than later. Riley is working to setup a visit with Clemson before deciding and a more in-depth trip to Columbus could also be in the works.
Greer’s process is a little more open at this point. The Buckeyes are battling several power programs, most notably Big Ten rivals Michigan and Penn State. Greer also enjoyed his time on campus.
“I had a good time and thought it was cool to celebrate a Natty in The Shoe,” Greer stated. “I thought it was cool how they put all the videos of their journey together that led up to the National Championship.”
Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye was able to connect with all of the linemen on campus on Sunday and this week will be on the road visiting these prospects as well as several other top targets.
But it wasn’t just offensive linemen on campus. The Buckeyes also hosted four-star Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy safety Kaden Gebhardt, who narrowed his list to four programs on Tuesday morning, including the Buckeyes.
“It went great,” Gebhardt said of the latest visit. “I loved the atmosphere. Just really happy for what this team has accomplished. I also had great conversations with Coach Guerrieri and Coach Day. It was very clear that I was a top priority.”
Clemson, Penn State, and Wisconsin round out Gebhardt’s top four.
