The Ohio State running back room just got a little bit deeper as redshirt freshman Sam Williams-Dixon has withdrawn his name from the transfer portal and will remain with the Buckeyes in 2025.
The news was first reported by Pete Nakos of On3.
As a true freshman in 2024, Sam Williams-Dixon played in three games, carrying the ball seven times for 53 yards.
Williams-Dixon came to Ohio State as a three-star prospect out of Pickerington North High School in Pickerington, Ohio. He was ranked the No. 48 athlete in the nation and the No. 661 player in the 2024 class overall.
The return of Williams-Dixon bolsters the depth chart of the Buckeyes. He joins classmate James Peoples, West Virginia transfer CJ Donaldson, and incoming freshmen Bo Jackson, Turbo Rogers, and Isaiah West.
Williams-Dixon had a solid spring last year, which you can see some highlights of below. Ohio State will begin spring practice this year on March 17. They will have 15 practices over a condensed four-week period.
The Buckeyes are replacing a pair of 1,000-yard rushers from last season, so the return of Sam Williams-Dixon gives OSU running backs coach Carlos Locklyn another option to replace that production.
