Ohio State football general manager Mark Pantoni will be sticking around for a while longer thanks to a contract extension.
On3.com’s Pete Nakos was the first to report the contract extension, which has not yet been confirmed by Ohio State.
Pantoni came to Ohio State from Florida in 2012 when Urban Meyer was hired as head coach. Back then, the job description involved recruiting, which it still does, but with the ever-changing sport of college football, Pantoni’s role has expanded almost on an annual basis.
Seen as one of the most important pieces of the Buckeye puzzle behind the scenes, Pantoni has built a long line of relationships in high schools around the country, but has also been at the forefront of making sure the football program is prepared for the unforeseen world of the transfer portal as well.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has lauded Pantoni for his scouting eye, which has been used in both recruiting and the portal. His ability to help the football program navigate the almost-annual changes in college football has helped keep the Buckeyes at the top of the sport.
This contract extension will help keep them there.
Contract information is expected to be revealed for Pantoni and the rest of the OSU staff this spring.
