The Word For OSU Players & Fans For The 2025 NFL Draft = Patience

You know I don’t like bein’ stuck in the crowd (could use some patience)
And the streets don’t change, but maybe the names
I ain’t got time for the game ’cause I need you (gotta have more patience)
~ Guns N’ Roses, “Patience”

Congratulations to all of the Ohio State players who will be participating in the 2025 NFL Draft. All of the hard work, sacrifices, and years of dedication will (hopefully) result in a phone call representing another opportunity to continue playing football, this time at the professional level.

The NFL Draft has certainly evolved over the years. I can still recall how the NFL Draft used to be on a weekday, starting at 8am ET, running throughout the first day until very late in the evening, with its conclusion the next day. The first year the NFL decided to broadcast the NFL Draft over three days was back in 2010, and it has become a staple of the NFL offseason.

It is against that backdrop that I offer the unsolicited advice that patience will not only be a necessity, but a virtue, for Ohio State fans and players during the 2025 NFL Draft. My suggestion is not borne out of a belief that the eligible Ohio State players are not worthy of being picked; it is my strong contention that Ohio State has a viable opportunity of breaking the record of players selected over the three day draft period.

My suggestion is based upon all of the pre-draft chatter that is populating social media that if there are any Ohio State players selected in the first round, it may be near the end of the first round, so possibly around or after 10pm-11pm ET. Speculation abounds that Emeka Egbuka, TreVeyon Henderson, Josh Simmons, and Donovan Jackson could have their names called tonight.

Please notice how I deliberately italicized the word ‘could’ in the paragraph above. This is where the stress and anxiety could kick in, and that is certainly understandable. It is going to be very important for the other eligible Ohio State players when the NFL Draft moves into day 2 on Friday evening at 7pm ET, as well as day 3 on Saturday afternoon at 12pm ET. If anything, just heed the words of Axl Rose, and remember to “have more patience”.
