STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Ohio State was able to host one of the nation’s top junior prospects this spring when Stone Mountain (GA) Stephenson defensive end K.J.. Green made his way to Columbus. That visit culminated in an offer from the Buckeyes to the national Top 50 prospect.
Green and his family received the news directly from Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson.
“He’s probably one of the best guys I’ve ever met,” Green said. “He took my parents, my coach, my sister, into his office and just showed us the guys that he had drafted, told us about himself, he’s just a great guy.”
Ohio State’s postseason run was something that piqued Green’s interest in the Buckeyes and made OSU a must-visit destination during the spring.
“The National Championship,” Green said. “I saw those guys win the National Championship and I was just like, ‘OK it’s definitely time to get up there and see it’.”
It’s not just about the notoriety and hardware that comes with winning a championship. Green was genuinely impressed with how the Buckeyes put their run together.
“Probably how they kept their head forward,” Green recalled. “Like a lot of teams, losing a big rivalry game like that means a lot. To lose that game and then to come back and have your head on a straight-forward path to win a National Championship, that’s always great to see.”
Green had a lot more to say about Ohio State and the early stages of his recruitment during our one-on-one interview with the big-time prospect on Southern Swing. Find out more about one of the nation’s top juniors, including who is in his ear about the Buckeyes, in this exclusive interview.
