CLEARWATER, Fla. — When first-year Ohio State offensive line coach Tyler Bowen got the job this off-season, one of the first calls he made was to Clearwater High School in Florida to connect with four-star offensive lineman Sam Roseborough.
“It’s been going great,” said Roseborough of his relationship with Bowen and Ohio State. “It had to be more fast-paced, getting to build a relationship with (Bowen), but it’s been good.”
That call ultimately led to a spring unofficial visit for Roseborough to Columbus, and now an official visit has been setup with the Buckeyes.
“June 13th to June 15th,” Roseborough said of his visit date with the Buckeyes.
One thing that has helped Ohio State make up ground quickly with Roseborough is his pre-existing relationship with new offensive line assistant coach Marcus Johnson. Johnson had been recruiting Roseborough when he was at Purdue.
“Me and coach Johnson had a relationship, he was one of the first coaches to come by here,” Roseborough explained. “So it made it easier already knowing someone (at Ohio State). And then just adding a relationship with coach Bowen, it definitely made it easier.”
The relationships there have come naturally for Roseborough who says he values the same things that Bowen and Johnson do.
“They’re both really big on family,” he explained. “Their family is very important to them. Their family in the offensive line room is very important to them and their family inside the locker room is important to them and that’s what is important to me.”
On the upcoming official to Ohio State, it’s not so much about seeing anything new with the Buckeyes as much as it is validating the feelings he got about the program on his spring unofficial visit to Columbus.
“I feel like I got to see a lot when I was there (in the spring) and that I got to see everything that I needed to see,” he started. “But for me going back, it would just be like kind of going back over those things and verifying it again for me.”
