Jerquaden Guilford Talks Ohio State Camp and Upcoming Visit as Decision Nears

Ohio State is about to host another monster weekend of official visitors and Fort Wayne (IN) Northrop wide receiver Jerquaden Guilford is one of the more interesting names on that list.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect was back at Ohio State for the final one-day camp on Tuesday ahead of that official visit, to get some work in with the Buckeye coaching staff.

“I think it went great,” Guilford told BuckeyeHuddle.com. “I got some extra work in with coach Hart and coach (Devin) Jordan so I loved it for sure.”

Guilford has become very familiar with the Ohio State coaching staff and program over the past several months, but this weekend’s official visit will be a key point in his recruitment.

With a decision date set for June 27th, the Buckeyes have a chance to make the final impression on the four-star prospect.

“Just really seeing my fit,” Guilford said of his goals for the visit. “I’m going to be around all of the guys, so just seeing how I’d fit in.”

Guilford’s relationship with Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline has been a driving factor in his interest with the Buckeyes.

“Me and coach Hart have always been close,” Guilford explained. “Of course he’s been close with Mylan (Graham) so he has always been staying on me.”

Guilford and Graham are both from the Fort Wayne area and know each other well. Graham has been able to share some insight into the Ohio State program as well as some general advice for transitioning to the next level.

“When he first came in, he came in late,” Guilford said. “I’ll be coming in early. But he has just been telling me what I need to do if I do come here or if I go somewhere else, just what I need to be doing to be ready.”

The Buckeyes are battling Michigan, Indiana, and Ole Miss for Guilford’s commitment. Building a close relationship with heated rivals Ohio State and Michigan has been an interesting dynamic to his recruitment.

“I have no hate in my heart,” he said. “I understand the rivalry and everything like that though, so whichever school I go to, I’ll handle it accordingly.”

Guilford will take a few days after the Ohio State official visit wraps up to come to a decision.

“Wherever I feel like I fit in,” he started. “I’d like to get in and play early, I feel like I have that talent. So I just want the opportunity to come in and play early and compete early.”

Jerquaden Guilford is rated a four-star prospect in the industry consensus rankings.
