I know when I watched Eric McFarland at camp, he already acts – and interacts – like he’s a Buckeye. He’s hanging out with the current players as much as he’s going through drills. I have no idea if it’s like that for him at other schools, but I haven’t seen somebody make themselves at home like this since Rick James started scuffing up Eddie Murphy’s couch.
I think it was interesting to watch 2028 WR Peter Pierre throughout the course of one camp. When he was just running routes and catching passes from Brian Hartline at the outset, he dropped a couple. He was very deliberate in his routes. Was not what I expected after being told that he’s “the next big thing” out of Chaminade Madonna. Hartline never got loud with him but was always encouraging him. But then came the one-on-ones and the DBs couldn’t really contain him. There was stuff like this happening.
I wonder if Emmett Queen would be the perfect second quarterback in the 2027 class. He’s not so highly rated that Brady Edmunds would flinch much. And Queen being a legacy Buckeye is a trait that may keep him around longer than most quarterbacks.
