Ranking Ohio State’s 2025 Playmakers: No. 8 – WR Bryson Rodgers

Bryson Rodgers is a redshirt sophomore wide receiver from Zephyrhills, Florida. As a recruit, he was ranked the No. 51 receiver in the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 66 player in the state of Florida.

No. 8 – Bryson Rodgers – Redshirt Soph. Receiver

After playing in just two games as a true freshman in 2023, Bryson Rodgers played in 13 games last year as the Buckeyes went on to win a national title.

Rodgers caught five passes for 46 yards last year. He played the fifth-most snaps among the receivers last year, averaging about 13 snaps per game. Most of those snaps happened over the first half of the season.

Rodgers has spent the majority of his time in the slot, but isn’t tied to one spot.

Statistical History

What He Does Well

Now in his third year, Bryson Rodgers has the size (6-2 185) and experience to help the Buckeyes at any of their receiver spots. He also has the skill set for whatever is asked.

“He can fly,” teammate Carnell Tate said back in March of 2024. “He’s fast. Super fast. Twitchy. He can change direction super quick. He can probably change directions the fastest in the room right now. Super twitchy and quick.”

You can see some of that speed in this clip from spring practice last year.

Rodgers has also been known for his consistency in practice, even as a true freshman.

“We have this ‘Michael Thomas board’ in the wide receiver room that tracks all our targets, catches, drops, all that type of stuff,” former teammate Emeka Egbuka said back in 2023. “I think Bryson at the end of fall camp he had a 90% completion rate when targeted, which is the highest I’ve seen since I’ve been here. If that was a national stat, I’m sure he’d be number one in every category. So good things happen when he’s targeted. Good things happen when the ball goes his way.”

Bryson Rodgers In 2025

Bryson Rodgers enters the 2025 season with the fourth-most snaps among returning receivers. He will likely share snaps in the slot with junior Brandon Inniss because nobody else on the roster has the experience inside that those two have. However, Rodgers will also be used outside as well when the need arises.

Rodgers has speed and hands, and his teammates have raved about his quickness. The depth chart hasn’t allowed him to showcase these things on Saturdays, but his coaches and teammates have seen it in practice. This year should finally be the first real opportunity for Rodgers to get on the field and also be a viable target.

What that means statistically is yet to be decided. He’s not just a guy who is going to catch 13 quick hitches this season and call it a year. Rodgers can be a yards-after-the-catch guy, as seen above, but that’s not his limit.

Snaps will be impacted by Ohio State’s usage of two tight ends. The potential is still there for Bryson Rodgers to be a playmaker that not enough people are talking about right now.

What They Are Saying

“I’m just willing to make plays and show why I’m one of the best receivers in America. So if that’s on the outside, that’s on the inside, whatever Coach Hartline and this team needs me to do to help us win. I’m going to show I’m one of the best receivers in America.” — Bryson Rodgers on his willingness to play wherever the offense needs him.
